In the early 1970’s my late husband, Peter Benchley, had two ideas for his first novel—one about a shark that terrorizes a summer beach town and the other about dinosaurs. I was skeptical about both ideas, and told him he should think about something more clever. Luckily, he ignored my advice, and wrote Jaws, which changed our lives forever.
For the next 30 years Peter wrote novels, articles, documentary films. I went with him on many trips and also became deeply involved in environmental issues and was elected to political office.
