Ocean Love & Leadership Starts At the Top

Inspired by his childhood in Hawaii, President Obama loved the ocean and protected more waters than any President in history. He safeguarded more of the ocean, increased four fold the amount of protected waters around the U.S., and his Administration worked hard to to improve American fisheries, clamp down on illegal fishing, and create the first national policy of protecting the oceans. He understood that ocean health was in jeopardy due to many threats, including overfishing, acidification, pollution, and climate change.

My husband John Jeppson and I love to spend time on Martha’s Vineyard each summer. President Obama and his family, do too. Here I am with the President in the summer of 2016.
